Exploring Western Delaware County and Beyond
White Horse Village residents appreciate our ideal location within Western Delaware County not only because of the ease of access to existing services and nearby friends, but also because it’s convenient to so many Philadelphia and greater PA attractions.
Residents and team members regularly organize a variety of recreational outings, from pleasant bus trips and excursions to special and regularly held events.
White Horse Village is a community that celebrates the arts! Our auditorium has seating for 230 and has theatre quality technical effects, sound, lighting and live broadcast capability. With two grand pianos and an organ, musical programs are held regularly. Members of the Performing Arts Council select monthly programs that include the Pennsylvania Ballet, concert pianists, orchestras, opera singers and many of our residents share their musical accomplishments by performing concerts.
The art studio with large windows is the perfect spot for painting, sculpting, flower arranging, rock carving and quilting. Many classes are run by resident artists. The Fine Arts Gallery features monthly exhibits by famous artists, local artists and resident artists.
There are creative writing workshops, weekly play reading, poetry corner and the Village Singers chorus, an 80 member chorus that is led by retired music professionals, also residents.
Our Talents are Vast
Our wide range of enrichment programs include group travel for theatre, orchestra, day trips, shopping or scenic excursions. There are many educational programs, distinguished lecture series, cultural encounters, musical entertainment, weekly vesper services, bridge games and feature films.
One can enjoy joining the computer group, wood working in two wood shops and gardening as well as all the programs that take place in the Wellness Center.
There is an extensive library with an adjacent conservatory and cocktail lounge with a piano for evening sing-a-longs. Residents can even spend some time browsing in our shop, the Gift Corral or relaxing with a cup of coffee in the cafe. The second hand thrift shop, the Stall, is open Thursday’s from 9:00am-1:00pm where one can find many attic treasures.
The purpose of the White Horse Village Residents Association is to encourage and promote an atmosphere of understanding and friendship. The Association has regular meetings in which its members are able to communicate and cooperate with the Board of Directors and Management team, therefore promoting a healthy, active, enjoyable, and useful community life, as well as a financially sound one. The elected Officers are nominated by the committee members and are responsible for upholding their positions in a way that will benefit the entirety of the Residents Association.
There is a place for everyone in the Residents Association. With over fifty different committees to become involved in, there are a variety of stimulating choices. Learn to express yourself as a member of the Fine Arts or Performing Arts Committees or for those with a passion for nature we have the Landscape Advisory and the Bluebird Trail where you can learn all about the plants and animals that live throughout the campus.
Each committee has its own unique qualities and as a resident you can share your talents with others. There are also many opportunities for volunteerism at White Horse Village through committee work and in the greater community-at-large.
