LeadingAge PA News: “White Horse Village Director of Mission Enhancement”

Susan Abtouche Vice President of Mission Enhancement

White Horse Village, Inc., a Delaware County continuing care retirement community, recently welcomed its new Director of Mission Enhancement/Executive Liaison to the Endowment Fund, Susan Abtouche, CFRE. She was chosen because of her background in developing and sustaining charitable giving programs within retirement communities.

Susan’s position will enhance the White Horse Village’s philanthropic culture. She will support the important work of the White Horse Village Endowment fund, a separate nonprofit responsible for raising charitable support for the community. White Horse village residents have been extremely successful in leading multiple fundraising efforts including a $1.3 million capital campaign for wellness initiatives. The Endowment Fund has also realized over $3.5 million in charitable legacy gifts. Abtouche will also work closely with community residents and team members to enhance the volunteer program. As White Horse Village prepares for its 30th anniversary in 2019, Abtouche will help support strategic initiatives as the community embarks on its next 30 years.

Abtouche is currently working toward completing her Ph.D. in organizational leadership from Eastern University and is writing her dissertation on charitable legacy giving in retirement communities, holds a M.S. in Administration of Human Services from Chestnut Hill College, and holds a B.A. in Psychology from Holy Family University.

She has previously served as Director of Development at Pennswood Village and Executive Director of the Pennswood Village Foundation. Working closely with residents, she developed fundraising, volunteer, and social accountability programs when she served as Director of Philanthropy at Ann’s Choice by Erickson Living for over 11 years. As a board member of the YWCA Bucks County, Susan served as the chair of the resource development committee.
